HDFView allows users to browse through any HDF4 and HDF5 file, starting with a tree view of all top-level objects in an HDF file's hierarchy. The HDFView is a tool for browsing and editing HDF4 and HDF5 files.The top level of the file contains a single HDF5 group, called matrix, and metadata stored as HDF5 attributes. For more information on the format, see the Introduction to HDF5. H5 files are supported in both Python and R.The syntax "NETCDF:" forces the use of the NetCDF driver. HDF4 and HDF5 files are also supported, although the respective driver is used if available. GDAL 1.9 includes support for NetCDF-4 file format (provided that nc-config is found in the configure stage), as well as the 64-bit offset file format.When you right-click on a folder and select OpenedFilesView, it will show you all opened files inside that folder, same goes for the file. HDF5 files are recognized by Chartreuse (Dakota GUI's plotting library) as a source of plottable data. You cannot use the Dakota GUI to write to an h5 file after it has been created.
